PRESS RELEASE

It is with great pleasure that I announce the publication of my friend Burt Rairamo’s debut novel, In the Shadows of a Gas Plant. The new novel is a thrilling mystery/drama set in the gas industry by a writer who has more than a 30-year experience in the business, the major part of his experience at the executive level.

Born in Finland in 1938, Burt Rairamo immigrated to Toronto as a teenager. He graduated with a Gas Engineering Technology diploma from Ryerson in 1963. He was General Manager and Vice President of Liquid Carbonic Inc. when he left in 1998. After retirement, he decided to explore his cultural roots and enrolled in the Finnish Studies program at the University of Toronto. He graduated in 2012 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree.

He credits his wife Diane and Börje Vähämäki, the former head of the Finnish Studies program at the University of Toronto with developing his interest in writing. He has published poetry and short stories in a variety of publications including Toronto Quarterly and Connecting Souls, Finnish Voices in North America. He is currently at work on his second novel, a WWII spy story partially set in Finland.

In the Shadows of a Gas Plant is available in print and eBook formats through Amazon, Chapters, Barnes & Noble, the FriesenPress bookstore and most online retailers.
